Here’s The One Thing Everyone Noticed About Last Night’s BAFTAS
Did you spot this?
When COVID 19 hit and shook the world, everything changed, from the way we interact to the way we live our lives, nothing was left untouched, and that includes award shows too.
Going virtual, whether in part or entirely, awards season has looked very different from usual years this time around, but hey! it’s not that we’re complaining. At least we get to see celebs interacting, even if it is virtually, and the style game is still strong – so it’s a win-win all around.
Except, there was one thing that began to irk people during last night’s BAFTAS award show – the fake audience.
Last night’s BAFTAS was held semi-virtually in the Royal Albert Hall, with presenters Dermot O’Leary and Edith Bowman leading the ceremony. While all the night’s performances were live from the arena, everything else was virtual, meaning a live audience was missing.
So, to fill the awkward silence, a fake audience was employed, but Twitter users reckon the show didn’t get their filler noise quite right.
@BAFTA who thought canned laughter was a good idea?
Fire that person now

Is this canned laughter on the #BAFTA awards from are Are You Being Served or When The Whistle Blows?

Well the canned applause and laughter won’t be winning a BAFTA.#BAFTAs #BAFTA2021 #bafta

Not sure how you could have done it any differently, but the dubbed in audience laughter, noise, whatever at the #BAFTA’s is very off putting.
It is dubbed in, isn’t it?

Since people took to Twitter in their droves to share their dismay at the canned laughter, the BAFTAS have informed everyone that the audience was in fact real and fake, with it comprising of 1000 virtual guests – well that’s us told.
