What Do The Love Islanders Eat In The Villa?

Watching Love Island and seeing all of the ripped, toned bods, it’s easy to assume the islanders just… don’t eat? Or if they do it’s a strict diet of chicken and rice.

The Islanders eating habits seem to be shrouded in mystery, other than the odd cup of coffee and ice-pop, we never see any of them chowing down on something delicious. When do they eat? What do they eat? And do they cook it themselves? With plenty of ex-islanders spilling the tea, and after some snooping around we’re finally got the answers to all of our burning questions and we’re happy to report our findings right back to you.

As it turns out, plenty of eating does actually go on behind the scenes. For breakfast, the kitchen is always fully stocked with an array of different breakfast items, from eggs and bread to avo and cereal. The islanders make their own breakfast and snacks, but the rest is all prepared for them.

A pop-up catering station is on the grounds of the villa and each contestant is cooked for. It’s unclear whether the islanders choose from a set menu or if they put in their own food requests, but either way, sign us the feck up!

What’s more, the islanders are never filmed eating as contestant Zara McDermott revealed that this is the time when their microphones are charged, “That’s why dinner is never filmed or you don’t see anyone eating hot food”. She also confirmed that the food was delish saying:

“The food tasted amazing. They used to give us a dessert after every lunch and every dinner, and the cake was unreal, and we could request food if we wanted.”

2019 contestant Anton also confirmed that the islanders were given the sweetest of treats upon request, sharing that they often got a weekly treat of a McDonald’s McFlurry:

“We needed that. We really did. I think it was about once a week we were getting them (McFlurries)” he told Heat Magazine. 

As for conversations that happen around the dinner table, it’s been reported that the boys and girls east separately (likely to avoid anything juicy from going down while not mic’ed) and they often sit with producers to chat logistics of the house. Olivia Atwood explained how this works:

“When we have dinner, it’s like them telling us we need to clean the bedroom, that laundry day is tomorrow and asking us what we want for our breakfast the next day, all just things that make the house run smoothly.”
