Laura Whitmore has spoken out about the rumours claiming that she’s set to be replaced on next season’s Love Island.
The reports gained a lot of public attention over the weekend, as a source reportedly told The Sun that producers were looking at other presenters to take over the role next year, including Maya Jama and Maura Higgins.
Without any real evidence to support the claims made, Laura has taken to her social media to share a statement on the topic, assuring fans that she isn’t going anywhere in a hurry.
“Some things I don’t comment on as they are so silly, but a headline on front of a paper yesterday that made it look like I died ‘Whitmore no more’ wow what bad taste considering how they’ve treated other women’ she began.
Going on to address the rumours she said:
“It’s probably gonna piss them right off as a lot more Whitmore on the telly coming up”
“And I’d like to thank them for completely exaggerating what I get paid, because now that helped my negotiations for other job contracts #karma” Laura added.
She also shared in her next story on Instagram a picture of herself outside the Love Island villa with the caption: “Oh and we’re back for more’, in reference to this weekend’s series reunion show.
Jumping to Laura’s defence amid the reports, a spokesperson for ITV told HuffPost that:
“Laura has done a fantastic job at the helm of the show this year and no discussions have yet taken place with regard to the next series.”
For more Whitmore, catch the Love Island reunion this Sunday the 5th of September on Virgin Media One and Player at 9pm.
