5 Foundations Irish Make-Up Artists Love
We asked some local MUAs for their fave-o foundations and they told us that these are the bases that give a pro-worthy finish.
MAC Face And Body, €31.50
This one was top of make-up artist Sarah Keary’s list. “It’s my go-to foundation,” she tells us. “It’s a comfortable, lightweight foundation, with a unique blend of emollients that deliver low-to-medium buildable coverage. When applied properly it looks like your natural skin, rather than foundation.”
Fellow MUA Clare Hogan agrees: “MAC Face & Body is great for people who don’t like wearing foundation but just want to even out their skin tone,” she says.
Another of Clare’s faves is this little number. “It’s a lovely light foundation that gives a gorgeous glow to the skin,” she explains. “You can still build the coverage where needed and it gives a beautiful, even finish to the skin.”
The Dublin Make-Up Academy’s Kim O’Sullivan describes this foundation as “hands down the best foundation I’ve ever used. First, it genuinely looks like my skin from the moment I apply it for up to 12 hours later,” she explains. “It’s staying power is unprecedented.
“And second, this is your foundation, concealer and skin illuminator all in one, and depending on how much you apply it can offer superior coverage or super sheer lightweight coverage. I can not rave about this cult classic enough. It’s incredible.”
For freelancer Tara O’Farrell, it’s Inglot’s HD Perfect Cover Up offering that comes out on top. “This is a big favourite of mine especially for my brides as it photographs so well and is long wearing,” she says.
“I’m loving this foundation at the moment,” says Dublin-based MUA Robyn O’Brien. “Its a buildable coverage so you can wear it really light or a little bit fuller for a night out. It gives that gorgeous glow and lasts all night, perfect for party season!”
