The Surprising And Kinda Gross Thing That’s Causing Your Acne, According To Millie Mackintosh’s Facialist
We certainly hadn't thought of this!
Acne: tricky to get rid of, even tricker to find out what’s causing it in the first place.
There are any number of things that could be triggering a flare up, from stress and hormones to dirty make-up brushes and even touching your face too much, but here’s one thing we hadn’t thought of: poo. Or rather, the lack of it.
Nataliya Robinson, a celebrity facialist who counts Millie Mackintosh as one of her famous clients explains to Cosmopolitan that not doing a number two on the regular can have some pretty major repercussions for your skin.
“A low fibre diet slows down your bowel movements causing a build up of toxins which ultimately have an impact on your complexion, “ she explains. “Regular bowel movements are one of the keys to beautiful skin as this helps to eliminate toxins from the body.”
In other words, if you’re a tad, um, backed up, prepare yourself for congested skin, a dull complexion and acne.
So what can you do to ensure things are moving along a little more regularly and get back a natural glow?
Not surprisingly, it’s all down to your diet and upping your fibre intake in particular will ensure a few extra trips to the toilet. Nataliya explains that foods like oats, flax seeds and lotsa leafy greens will naturally “promote a clearer complexion.”
Got it.
