Dec Has Shared A Touching Tweet Following Ant’s Admittance Into Rehab

Ant has been struggling with alcohol and prescription drug abuse.

Over the weekend, Britain’s Got Talent host Ant McPartlin confessed that he’s been struggling with alcohol and prescription drug abuse, and he apologised for letting both his family and fans down before checking himself into rehab.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, the 41-year-old said, “The first step is to admit to yourself you need help. I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I’m truly sorry. I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends through this really difficult time.”

He then added, “I have spoken out because I think it is important that people ask for help if they are going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”

Now, his best friend and TV co-host Declan Donnelly, has taken to Twitter to share a heartfelt message to fans. He said, “Thank you for all the kind messages and well wishes for the big fella. He will be touched. Your support is, as ever, much appreciated. DD xx”.

It’s believed the problem started with a botched knee operation a number of years ago, and the star became hooked on the medicine he was prescribed for pain relief.

Ant will remain in rehab for a number of months, and a source told the Sun that, “Right now Ant won’t be able to have access to his phone or any visitors, even from his wife or Dec.”

They then added, “The most important thing is getting his health on track.”
