Heading To Electric Picnic This Year? A Brand New Addition Has Just Been Confirmed
Six weeks to go and counting...
If you’re Electric Picnic-bound this year, we may have just found your new daytime-chill-out/late night hang-out spot.
The EP organisers have confirmed a brand new area for this year’s festival, tucked away in the woodland grounds of Stradbally Estate.
Hazel Wood will play host to storytelling , puppetry, visual art and theatre during the day, before shifting over to a more music-based line-up after dark.
Starting on Friday night, Cathy Davey will give the first live performance of her new album, while throughout the weekend there’ll be music from Jack O’Rourke, Exit Pursued By a Bear, Carried By Waves and MKAI as well as DJ sets from Jim X Comet, Fish Go Deep, Home Beat’s Emmet Condon and more.
And in a first for EP, the last night of the festival will see “costumed characters, woodland creatures and otherworldly beings” making a procession through the festival site before ending up back at Hazel Wood for a Sunday night wrap party with music from Yurodny Ensemble.
Electric Picnic takes place from September 2nd – 4th on the grounds of Stradbally Hall, Co. Laois.
