Kim Kardashian Just Publicly Dissed Taylor Swift For Lying And ‘Playing The Victim’

That's a lot more to Taylor's Grammys speech than you'd think...

While we probably know more about Kim Kardashian than we do about our own mam at this stage, thanks to the power of social media and reality TV, it’s rare that she actually gives a straight-up interview.

So we were dying to sit down and pore over GQ‘s profile of the mum-of-two over a cuppa today. Journalist Caity Weaver followed Ms. Kardashian around LA for 48 hours, attending meetings by her side, hanging with North and even – oddly enough – getting to feel her boob (apparently it’s “so soft it makes velvet feel like splinters.”)

It’s certainly an interesting look under the hood of one of the most successful dynasties of our time, but for the most part Weaver’s findings are fairly unsurprising. Except for her conversation with Kim about the recent Kanye-Taylor controversy, that is.

If you harbour even a fleeting interest in pop culture, you’ll no doubt remember Kim’s husband telling the world via his album The Life Of Pablo that he “made that bitch [Taylor] famous.”

Taylor then appeared to call out Kanye in her Grammys Album Of The Year acceptance speech for “taking credit” for her success and for “undercutting” her work.

For Kanye’s part, the rapper claimed he had run the lyric by Taylor in a phone call and that she had been totally on board.

So what’s Kim’s verdict?

“She totally approved that,” Kim says of the lyric. “She totally knew that that was coming out.”

The reality star also slates Taylor for playing down her part in the lyric to make it appear that she had been hard done by Kanye.

“It was funny because [on the call with Kanye, Taylor] said, ‘When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I’m so against this, and I’ll just laugh and say, The joke’s on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.’

“And I’m like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again.”

Ouch.

According to Kim, the entire Kanye-Taylor phone call was recorded by Kanye’s personal videographer, who documents much of his album-making process on film, so there is indeed proof that Taylor pre-approved the lyric. But Kim says it’ll never be made public due to an “attorney’s letter” sent by Taylor which she allegedly told Kanye to “destroy” any footage of the call.

According to Taylor’s PR team, the singer did not knew of the incriminating lyric beforehand, nor did she hear the song.

“Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term ‘that bitch’ in referencing her,” a spokesperson told GQ.

“A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated.”

With Calvin deleting her from social media and Kim slating her in the national press, it sounds like Tay has a lot on her plate this week…
