My 30 Day Yoga Challenge Diary: Day 16 & I’m Too Broke To Go To Yoga

It's day 16 of Laura Somers' yoga challenge and she can't afford to go to class. Luckily, she has a solution...

I know its only been one day since I splurged all my money on a two week trip to India but I am so fed up of being broke. I had to resort to bringing in a tin of beans to work today, but one positive part of the day was not having to lug around my yoga mat. Why was this? Well, I tried to withdraw €20 from my account to pay for the class only to find that I was €15 overdrawn. Not only did I have no money left from my impulse buy yesterday, I was now in debt to the bank. Great.

So, ever the dedicated yogi I took it upon myself to take part in my own self-taught yoga class. I couldn’t even watch a YouTube yoga class because my laptop charger was broken and I was too broke to buy a new one. Sigh, life’s tough.

The best thing I found about doing yoga at home was that I didn’t feel the need to compete with any other yogis when doing downward facing dog

I began my yoga class with the usual stretching and meditating. I may have spent a bit too much time meditating but I felt it necessary at the time. The best thing I found about doing yoga at home was that I didn’t feel the need to compete with any other yogis when doing downward facing dog. In hindsight this was probably a bit counterproductive as I wasn’t in any way tired after my self-instructed class.

I think I may have been too soft on myself as I didn’t feel the usual aches and pains and I think I may have, er, fallen asleep mid-session.

As it turns out I don’t think I am cut out to be a yoga teacher. I guess I’ll have to think of another way to make some dollars before my next payday.
