Just to make life that little bit harder.

If you’ve already been planning alternative transport routes to get to and from work this Thursday and Friday, you’re going to want to factor Wednesday into your plans too.

Dublin Bus have confirmed that this week’s planned transport strike will start at 9pm tomorrow night, Wednesday September 7th, rather than the following morning as originally planned. This is due to Trade Unions serving strike notice from midnight on Wednesday night, leaving the company “no option” but to stop service early to ensure the safe return of all buses to their depots.

The strike will continue for Thursday and Friday, with Nitelink and Airlink services also affected.

Drivers are due to walk off the job in a protest seeking a 15% pay increase, plus 6% they say is owed since 2008. This proposed increase would, they say, bring them in line with Luas drivers’ salaries.

Dublin Bus has told unions it currently does not have the financial resources to fund the increase.

The planned industrial action will affect around 400,000 passengers.

More information on last service on Wednesday night can be found here.
