As international travel restrictions are set to be extended until July 20, a summer holiday in Ireland has never looked more appealing, or been more encouraged.

As it stands, keeping the virus suppressed is of the upmost importance and Health Service Executive’s Chief Clinical Officer, Dr Colm Henry is urging people to not book summer holidays abroad and only travel if it’s essential.

As airplanes have been deemed an ideal environment for transmitting the virus, as well as reintroducing it into countires, Dr Henry is reminding people to not “throw away all the gains we have made” and opt for holidays within Ireland, while the country slowly reopens and continues with the proposed exit plan.

So, if you’re planning to spend this summer exploring the Emerald Isle and all the fabulous attractions we have on our doorstep, from hikes to cute cafés and hidden gems, we’ve put together a list of essentials for any trip into the Irish countryside.
