5 Everyday Things That Can Completely Change How You Taste Down There

Whatever your taste or scent, just remember your vagina is effing awesome.

Woman in briefs

You’ve probably heard the rumour that eating pineapple can make a guy’s sperm taste better. (In fact, we have an entire article dedicated to how you can improve his funky-tasting spunk) But diet and lifestyle don’t just play a key role in how, er, pleasant, your fella tastes down there, it also affects how YOU taste down there.

Basically, how your lady bits taste and smell is all down to your vagina’s PH balance, and upsetting that balance can throw off your natural scent, not to mention leave you at an increase risk of contracting a nasty infection.

Wanna keep your vag in tip top condition? Here’s what to eat – and more importantly, what to avoid.

Booze

A heavy night on the sauce won’t just leave you feeling rough AF the next morning, it can also mess with your vajayjay. Aside from altering the way you taste it can also up your risk of contracting a yeast infection. Thankfully, your vagina’s PH should return to normal within a few days.

Probiotics

One of the best ways to keep your vagina’s PH in check? Probiotics. Not just good for keeping your gut healthy, the good bacteria in probiotics also help to fight off infections that may cause an unpleasant odour. Stock up on plain yoghurt, kimchi and sauerkraut.

Basically all fruit

Your vagina may never taste like a fruit salad, but eating fruit can make it taste sweeter. In particular, fruits that are high in vitamin C help to remove free radicals that can disrupt normal sexual health. The even better news? There’s evidence to suggest that eating a diet high in fruits and veggies can lessen menstrual cramps. Hurrah!

Smoking

Smoking doesn’t just yellow your teeth and make your clothes smell, it also increases your risk of bacterial vaginosis, an infection which is characterised by a strong fishy odour. Another reason to quit? We think so.

Red meat

Great news for vegetarians! According to E. Adam Kallel, a Ph.D in medicinal chemistry consultancy eating red meat can actually make your crotch sweat smellier. He tells the Huffington Post that “you can smell worse within two hours of eating red meat,” because it affects your vagina’s PH.

Still, we’re not so sure it’ll put us off ordering the steak.
