6 Celebs Who Taught Us To Love Our Bodies In 2015
Instilling self confidence and slamming body shamers, we're saying all hail these six fiesty females who said #EffYourBeautyStandards in 2015.
1. Gabourey Sidibe
The Precious star defied Hollywood’s stereotype of slender leading female roles by giving an award winning performance in the movie, curves in tact. She also had one of the best responses to internet trolls this year, when she tweeted “To people making mean comments about my GG pics, I most def cried about it on that private jet on my way to my dream job last night.” You tell ’em girl!
2. Alyssa Milano
Who’d have known our fave Charmed gal would ever be the subject of body shamers? Well, when she was ridiculed by comedian Jay Mohr for her ‘post-baby weight’ she hit back at him with the best response ever. “So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife,” she wrote. killing him with kindness was most definitely the way to go.
3. Sarah Millican
This funny gal had to endure a load of criticism for an outfit she wore to the BAFTAs and she had such an empowering response to those critics: “I’m sorry. I thought I had been invited to such an illustrious event because I am good at my job. Putting clothes on is such a small part of my day. They may as well have been criticising me for brushing my teeth differently to them.”
4. Chrissy Teigen
Just when we thought we couldn’t love this mummy-to-be anymore, she shared a photo on Insta earlier in the year happily flaunting scars and stretch marks across her thighs. She even prompted a trend called thigh reading. More about that here.
5. Pink
This girl has been our #inspo for years and years, she just oozes girl power, and when trolls started slamming her for gaining weight she had a kick ass response: “My good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about me. I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either, I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern.”
6. Demi Lovato
This superstar has made no secret of her eating disorders in the past, so we’re delighted to see she’s embracing a healthier relationship with her bod and fighting back against the shamers at the same time. “Learn to lurrrrrvveee yerrrrr currrrrvveees ?????,” she tweeted earlier this year. “I actually used to hate them… But then a special someone helped me learn how to love them… And he sure loves them….” We wonder who she could be talking about, eh?
