8 Reasons It’s Officially Time To Delete Your Tinder Account
It could be compromising your social life and your sexual health to name a few...
1. It’s your main form of social contact
If you find that you haven’t had any non-virtual contact with the human race in the past 48 hours it’s time to get rid of Tinder – and ASAP. Sure, it’s great for the chats but if there comes a stage where you’ve forgotten how to communicate in person, it’s time to say ‘buh-bye’ to the app and ‘hello’ to the real world again.
2. 1 in 3 men on the app are actually married (Soz)
We hate to break it to you but The Global Web Index carried out research that revealed 30% of men on Tinder have already gotten hitched and said their ‘I dos’. So, if you find yourself hopelessly in love with one or, er, several men without having ever met them it’s time to let go, because if months have gone by and they’re still making excuses to not meet up they’re probably in that 30% category.
3. You’re in a relationship… and you’re not the only one
You’d be surprised how many people do it. In fact, up to 42% of peeps on the app are (shock, horror) already coupled up. So, if you’re in a relationship, just remember a little bit of seemingly harmless flirting, could end up seriously hurting your beau. And if you’re single? Just be wary; not every guy is as young, free and single as he makes himself out to be.
4. You spend your nights out creating ‘moments’
Nights out are meant to be for having fun with your mates so if you’re spending your night trying to look like you’re having a great time through ‘moments’ on Tinder it’s time to get rid. No one minds a cheeky selfie every now and again but spending your night trying to impress boys you don’t know through sexy pics is a no-no, for sure.
5. It could be affecting your sexual health
Your Tinder obsession really could be bad for you because according to research carried out by the Rhode Island Department Of Health cases of syphilis were up by 79% between 2013 and 2014, and experts put the rise down to risky behaviour on apps like Tinder and Grinder. The lesson? Either ditch the app, or be sure to always practice safe sex.
6. You have more dick pics on your phone than actual messages
It’s hard to control exactly what they’re going to send you, but if you find yourself bombarded with dick pics it’s time to say goodbye to Tinder; you never know who could get a hold of your phone, and that’s just a cringey moment waiting to happen.
7. You’re using it purely for the ride
Now, there’s nothing wrong with hooking up but if you meet up with people you’ve just met on Tinder for sex you could end up in some dodgy situations. If you’re hooking up with a guy on the app, remember to be safe; let your friends know where you are, meet in a public place, and if you do get the ride, always use a condom, natch.
8. You’ve swiped them all
We all live in constant fear that we might eventually run out of matches and have swiped past every lad within a 10 mile radius. Sure, we haven’t heard of any cases of this yet but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen, so just in case, we’re putting down our smartphones, and going dating in the real world. Y’know, like we used to.
