Heading To Vegas? Forget Drinking And Partying, Here’s 2 Of The Best Bucket List Activities To Do In Sin City
Cos it's not all tequila slammers and casinos, y'know.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas… but chances are, if you do it right, you won’t remember it anyway.
It’s no secret that partying and Las Vegas go hand in hand with droves of tourists heading there year on year for hedonistic fun in the city’s infamous clubs, casinos and pool parties.
But what about Vegas sober? Can you really have fun in Sin City without the, um, sin?
Well, yeah. Sure a Vegas-style night on the tiles is a bucket-list experience but it’s not the only thing the city has to offer.
During a quick two-night vaycay in Vegas, I did the regular tourist stuff. I explored the casinos, drank more Gin than is probably advised and attended one of the city’s super clubs where David Guetta was playing to a boozed-up crowd of international punters.
But for me, the two standout experiences Vegas offered me were booze-free and off the strip, so next time you’re en route to Nevada, consider adding these to your list of must-do activities.
A helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon
For a buzz that booze can’t rival take the 90-minute journey out to Boulder City on the edge of the Grand Canyon, hop on a chopper and spend an hour and a half flying over one of the the seven wonders of the world. Expect breathtaking panoramic views and fascinating commentary from your pilot as you hover over Hoover Dam, Lake Mead and Grand Canyon West. For extra cool points – and bragging rights – take the tour’s earliest slot and watch the sun rise over the canyon at 6am.
Prices start at $259 with Papillion Tours so it’s pricey but – trust me on this – worth every cent.
Watch The Beatles Love By Cirque Du Soleil
An absolute must-do for diehard fans and occasional listeners alike, The Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil is a three-time grammy award winning production and widely considered as one of the most celebrated shows in the world.
You’ll see some of the bands greatest hits, including Yesterday, Twist & Shout, Help! And All You Need Is Love reimagined during a vibrant and immersive stage production, that’s almost guaranteed to leave you with a tear in your eye and a smile on your face.
Save it for a night you’re forgoing the club scene and catch it at The Mirage. Tickets start at $55.
Also high on the Vegas bucket list
- Stay in one of the city’s most iconic hotels. The Bellagio is pricey, but an experience like no other.
- Attend a pool party during the day. The Encore Beach Club party is highly rated.
- Watch the fountain show on the main strip. It’s on every hour, so it’s hard to miss.
- Take a gondola in The Venetian Hotel, because where else in the world can you enjoy a boat ride indoors?
- Have a flutter on the slot machines. Perfect for amateur gamblers who don’t fancy taking on the roulette table.
- Cure your hangover by the pool. Trust us on this one.
