Ireland’s Biggest Ever Sex Survey Says We’re Getting Frisky Three Nights A Week And Having Lots Of Casual Sex
The Irish Times surveyed 12,000 people to reveal Irish sex habits, and found that we're a busy bunch in the bedroom.
We’re a nosey bunch when it comes to knowing what’s normal in the bedroom, so we were delighted when we heard the that The Irish Times had released a survey of 12,000 people revealing the details on Irish sex lives. And it unearthed some pretty awesome stats, like we’re having lots of sex for one.
Of those surveyed, 14% claim to be having sex three or more times a week, while 44% are doing it at least once a week.
Casual sex is on the up too, with 73% of guys admitting to having regular one night stands, compared to 66% of women who said the same. The most popular way to hook-up? One third of Irish men between 17 and 24 ‘fessed to using dating apps (Uh, hello Tinder) to organise a night of passion.
The stats are less, er, pleasing if you’re in a relationship though, as sexual activity decreases the longer you’ve been together. The study found that 75% of couples who had been together between six months and two years were having sex once a week, compared to 60% of those together two to seven years.
It really comes down to whether you’re happy – are you having the kind and amount of sex that you want to have each week or each year?
“It’s really important people don’t begin to feel bad or inadequate that they’re not matching these statistics,” says Clinical sexologist Emily Powers.
“It really comes down to whether you’re happy – are you having the kind and amount of sex that you want to have each week or each year? If you are – that’s your answer.”
