Michelle William’s Response To Mark Wahlberg’s $1.5 Million Salary Donation Has Us In Tears

He made the donation in Michelle's name

Michelle William’s has released a statement in response to Mark Wahlberg’s decision to donate his $1.5 million salary to the Time’s Up movement in her name.

In recent days, the salary difference between Mark and Michelle for the re-shooting of scenes for movie All The Money In The World was a subject of controversy amid gender pay gap issues across Hollywood.

The movie, which originally starred the disgraced Kevin Spacey, was re-shot after sexual assault claims came out against the actor. However, more controversy lay in the fact that Michelle Williams was paid less than 1% of the salary the Wahlberg was given to re-shoot these scenes.

Yesterday, Mark made the announcement publicly that he would be donating the entire salary to the Times Up movement in his co-stars name.

“Over the last few days my reshoot fee for ‘All The Money In The World’ has become an important topic of conversation,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I 100% support the fight for fair pay and I’m donating the $1,5M to the ‘Times Up’ Legal Defense Fund in Michelle William’s name.”

The Daddy’s Home star has received major praise for the move, with Michelle herself releasing an emotional statement following the announcement.

“Today isn’t about me,” The Academy Award nominated actress said.

“My fellow actresses stood by me and stood up for me, my activist friends taught me to use my voice, and the most powerful men in charge, they listened and they acted.

“If we truly envision an equal world, it takes equal effort and sacrifice.

“Today is one of the most indelible days of my life because of Mark Wahlberg, WME and a community of women and men who share in this accomplishment.

“Anthony Rapp, for all the shoulders you stood on, now we stand on yours.”

Anthony Rapp is the man who originally came forward about Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault, and paved the way for many other actors and actresses to do the same.
