With a social media following of over 500,000, an estimated one million viewers a month and a nail brand she set up on the back of her online success, it’s fair to say renowned blogger Suzanne Jackson, AKA So Sue Me, knows a thing or two about blogging.

We got chatting to Suzanne over ice creams at the Make My Magnum event at Arnotts this week, and asked her what her tips would be for those starting out in blogging. Here’s what she had to say.

Get set up

“First of all, set yourself up on Blogspot because it’s free and really easy to use,” recommends Suzanne. And once you’re set up, you’ll need to really utilise social media, by posting regularly and consistently. In particular, focus on Instagram and Pinterest,” says Suzanne.

Talk about something that’s very relatable so people can actually relate to you.

Remain genuine and honest

The rule? If you’re not interested in it, don’t blog about it. Instead, focus on the things you love. “Talk about something that’s very relatable so people can actually relate to you,” instructs Suzanne. “Whether that’s a weightloss journey, or learning how to bake, or maybe you’re new into fashion styling.” Her message? Whatever it is you want to blog about, find your story and run with it.

You’re going to get disheartened, you’re going to get trolled, but you just gotta keep going.

Keep going

“My third and final tip is don’t stop,” says Suzanne. “It’s hard work, you’ve got to be consistent. You’re going to get disheartened, you’re going to get trolled, but you’ve just got to keep going.” Sounds like a #winning attitude to us.
