People Are Giving Out Stink About What Cara Delevingne Wore To The White House
Do you think her outfit is inappropriate?
Cara’s casual outfits give us some serious style inspo. It’s not often she’s spotted without a cool pair of kicks, a statement tee and a goofy facial expression, but her signature cool-girl look has opened her up to criticism.
That’s because, when attending a discussion on climate change at the White House last week she teamed a long-sleeved black dress with (gasp!) a pair of runners; a move which has seen her face a fair bit of stick.
Many labelled her outfit as inappropriate, and not fitting with the formal setting. Marissa Mitrovich, a former government affairs executive told The Washington Post “I am a big believer that you should respect the setting you are in. And when you are in the White House for a business meeting, I say you do not wear sneakers.”
Columnist Emily Heil also called Cara out on her sartorial choice, writing “Pearl-clutchers might want to avert their eyes, because the British import also wore sneakers for the visit. Black and white Pumas, to be exact. That’s athletic footwear treading the marble of the inner chambers of global power.”
Oh dear.
Luckily, Cara’s fans came to her rescue with many defending her choice of footwear. “Only Cara Delevingne would pull off wearing pumas to the white house,” one tweeted.
“Lol at the people upset about Cara Delevingne wearing sneakers to the White House,” wrote another.
Whaddya reckon? Is meeting the president in a pair of runners a major faux pas or should Cara be able to wear whatever she feels most comfy in?
