Remember X Factor’s Monica Michael? She’s Dropped 5 Stone And Unveiled A Dramatic New Look

X Factor 2015 will be remembered for lots of things; presenters Olly Murs and Caroline Flack’s regular live-on-air blunders, Mason’s drop-the-mic tantrum and Rita Ora’s dance moves.

But also among last year’s memorable moments is contestant Monica Michael.

Monica made it to the live shows as the judges’ wildcard before losing out to fellow competitor Anton Stephens when the show went to the judges vote.

Now, nearly a year on from her elimination, she’s packed a helluva lot in and unveiled a dramatic weight loss.

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning today, Monica revealed that she’d had a gastric band fitted and lost five stone since being exiting the show.


“I was always battling with my weight, it’s always been a problem of mine…I was the chubby one,” she said on the show. “It was always a demon of mine that I had to battle.

“In 2015 I was on tour with Blue…and I could really feel how unfit I was on the stage, how unhealthy I was. I remember coming off the stage…and just crying my eyes out.

“I was eating excessively and trying these fad diets, it was just a snowball effect. It was getting out of control.

It was then that Monica decided to take action.

“I feel like now I need to just nip it in the bud, so I finally decided to take some drastic action and I decided to opt for a gastric band,” she explains.

“For me it was the best thing that I’ve ever done.”

She’s certainly looking fierce too and fans approve of her new look, complimenting her on her transformation.
