Usher Explains Why He Was Notably Absent From The One Love Manchester Concert

The star's name had initially appeared on the bill.

Sunday night saw 50,000 concert goers descend on Manchester’s Old Trafford centre for the One Love Manchester concert organised by Ariana Grande to honour the 22 people killed and countless injured at the terror attack in Manchester arena last month.

A star-studded line up that included Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, Little Mix, Robbie Williams and Liam Gallagher took to the stage, but one performer who was noticeably absent from the three-hour long gig was Usher.

The singer was on the original set list for the concert and fans were quick to notice his absence.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, he explained why he wasn’t there on the night, revealing that it clashed with his son’s first day at camp.

“So happy to see that last night’s concert in Manchester proved that love always prevails,” he wrote under a pic from the gig. “I would have loved to be there but It was my son’s first day at Camp Kudzu, one of the few summer camps for kids living with diabetes. This was an important day for him and for myself as a proud father. Stay strong UK.”
