Seriously, it did not look like it did in the picture.

Online shopping may be one of our favourite hobbies but we’ve all been caught out at one time or another. Whether it’s jeans that don’t quite fit, a top that’s a slightly different shade than it looked on the website or a dress that’s a whole lot more figure-hugging than you anticipated, sometimes our purchases don’t always match up to our expectations.

Well imagine the disappointment 17-year-old Juliet Jacoby felt when she found the perfect prom dress online and ordered it, only for it to arrive two weeks late and looking nothing like it did in the picture.

Here’s how the dress was supposed to look:

Here’s how it actually looked:

Speaking to Seventeen, Juliet explained her ordeal: “When I opened the package, I gasped and was shocked by how ugly it was. I cursed a little, and I was floored on how it looked nothing like the picture I saw! I FaceTimed my friend and she laughed because it was so ugly.

“I tried the dress on and the zipper was broken,” she continues. “I waited in front of the garage door to see what my mum’s reaction was, and all she did was stand there with the most shocked face for about five seconds, then burst out laughing. My dad said I could still wear it to prom, but I was like, hell to the no! I will not wear this to prom.”

The lesson? Always order from a reputable online source and if the item isn’t as advertised you’re entitled to a full refund within 28 days of purchase.
