We’re Going To Ibiza: Here’s What We’ll Get Up To

An imminent Ibizan holiday means doing some serious research – though I fully believe the Ibiza Uncovered experience is a bit of a stereotype, I’m trying to do all of my homework so I don’t come home with the hangover from hell and sunburn to match… So here’s what I’ve got planned.

Accommodation

My trip is with Falcon Holidays, so we’re staying in the four-star Palladium Cala Llonga, on the eastern side of the island. It’s about 15 minutes from the old town, and adults only, which means no children (duh) but, also crucial, no hen / stag parties. What can I say? I’m old before my time. It has a sushi bar, freshwater pool and massage service (although also, worryingly, on-site entertainment – watch this space).

Sightseeing

My other half is not the sun-worshipping kind, so one of the pre-holiday promises made is that we’ll rent bikes and explore the island. We’re looking at ExtraRent, which charges €15 per day for bicycles and a little over €50 per day for scooters. (And yes, we’ll be slathering on the SPF50!)

Eating

Going solely on TripAdvisor reviews, I’m planning on eating at El Deseo – I have a serious thing for Mexican food and the reviews are incredibly positive. Plus, check out that guacamole! Who wouldn’t?!

Partying

It would be a bit sinful to go to Ibiza and not do a bit of partying, so we’re currently considering Jean Claude Ades’ Be Crazy party at Lio. Be Crazy spent the winter at Pacha, so it’s safe to say there’ll be a lot of serious melodic house tunes going on. Handy (cos lazy), too, that it’s in Marina Botofoch, just south of Cala Llonga where we’ll be holed up.

Clearly I’m not completely lazy, because we’re also gonna hop over to the western side of the island to Cafe Mambo in San Antonio, for a cocktail and to watch the sun set (check out that view!). It’s a family-owned pre-party destination that even offers its own liquor, Herbias.

Beautifying

As I never like to overlook an opportunity for a blow-dry, I’ll be calling on the services of Blowout Ibiza, who’ll come to your hotel and beautify you before a big night out. They offer a blow-dry menu (torn between the beachhouse braid and the Blowout bounce), with prices starting from €30 for a blow-dry (€60 if they have to come to you).

High-end lunching

Hotel Es Vive is one of the island’s oldest cutting-edge hotels, decorated Art Deco style and with a cocktail menu that includes more than 40 choices. We’ll be hitting it up for lunch in the poolside restaurant, although with Slimming World on my mind, I’ll be erring on the side of detox smoothies and salads!
