Facebook Banned This Image Of Tess Holliday For Violating Their Guidelines

But they've since reversed their decision.

Tess Holliday

It would seem that Facebook have some seriously strict guidelines when it comes to promoting content on their site, as Australian group Cherchez La Femme found out when Facebook rejected their seemingly innocent ad for an upcoming event.

The ad featured a picture of plus-size model Tess Holliday and the image was used to promote the event “Feminism and Fat,” but was removed as a result of “violating Facebook’s guidelines by promoting an idealised physical image.”

Jessamy Gleeson, one of the event’s administrators contacted Facebook to enquire further about the ad’s removal, and was told that the image didn’t comply with their health and fitness policy, with Facebook reportedly stating that the image “depicts a body or body parts in an undesirable manner.”

“Ads may not depict a state of health or body weight as being perfect or extremely undesirable,” they added.

Not cool, Facebook. Not cool.

Facebook have since had to apologise due to outcry on social media about their policy in relation to Tess’ image and have stated the the ad was rejected in error.
