Here’s Why Emma Watson Is Refusing To Take Selfies With Fans

She's not being rude.

What’s the first thing you do when you spot a famous face on the street? Chances are you take a few deep breaths and pluck up the courage to go say hi and ask them for a selfie, right?

Well, if said celebrity is Emma Watson it might be best to forgo getting that all-important snap for social media.

That’s because the Beauty And The Beast actress has said she’ll no longer be taking selfies with fans for a very important reason.

For Emma, it’s a matter of personal safety.

“If someone takes a photograph of me and posts it, within two seconds they’ve created a marker of exactly where I am within 10 meters,” she tells Vanity Fair. “They can see what I’m wearing and who I’m with. I just can’t give that tracking data.”

Thankfully, that doesn’t mean she’s completely against meeting with fans. In fact, she’s more than happy to spend time with her followers, divulging loads of Harry Potter-related secrets.

“I’ll say, “I will sit here and answer every single Harry Potter fandom question you have but I just can’t do a picture,”’ she explained. “I have to carefully pick and choose my moment to interact. When am I a celebrity sighting versus when am I going to make someone’s freakin’ week?. Children I don’t say no to, for example.’

Hmm.

Sadly, that sounds like you definitely won’t be getting an Emma Watson selfie anytime soon, but maybe, just maybe you’ll get to pick her brains about all things HP.
