Well... This is awkward.

For those of you who watched season 2 of Love Is Blind, you’ll have seen the moment that was a win for women everywhere – when contestant Deepti turned down fiancé Abhishek (Shake) on the day of their supposed wedding – telling their family and friends that she is ‘choosing herself’.
We have to say, we were pretty delighted to watch the events unfold, as Shake spent the majority of his scenes telling everyone how he didn’t feel any physical or sexual attraction to Deepti – who is of Indian heritage and therefore different from his usual ‘blond, white woman’ – something he felt he had to keep. on. reiterating.
So it will come as little surprise that since the show wrapped up, Deepti’s family members have decided to share their disgust over Shake’s behaviour with viewers of the show.

Speaking through an Instagram post on behalf of himself and his partner, Deepti’s brother Sunny Vempati wrote that Shake was a ‘clout’ chasing ‘loser’ who made ‘awful and cringe worthy comments’ about his sister which ‘minimised her life’. He said that he didn’t normally get involved in drama but that he had to defend his sister; ‘Shake, bruh, you’re a loser’. Yikes.
Vempati went on to reference how it felt as Deepti’s family to watch the show; ‘You made these statements knowing your own mom would one day watch it; my parents and my entire family had to sit through you talking behind my sister’s back about insecurities she fought her entire life.’
‘Forgive me if I’m not sympathetic towards you… Good luck with the rest of your life; and stay the f**k away from my sister.’
Around an hour after the statement was released, Shake appeared to respond with his own Instagram statement that was a little less… elaborate. ‘I’m not perfect, but I’m real’. He turned off comments on the post.
We’re glad Deepti chose her own happiness over someone who didn’t recognise her beauty. Ladies, take notes!
