Yes, believe it or not, it’s been six long years since Rihanna released her latest studio album, Anti but now it seems as though the musical artist is finally making her long-awaited comeback. Eeeekkk!!

Without saying a word the 34-year-old has confirmed that she will perform at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show after posting a photo of her holding a football to her social media yesterday.

While her record label, Roc Nation and the NFL tweeted the same photo, with the caption, “Let’s GO – @rihanna @rocnation #SBLVII @AppleMusic @NFLonFOX.”

The post came just a mere few hours after TMZ reported that the NFL and Roc Nation had been in talks with the star to headline the big show, which is due to take place on February 12, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona.

Roc Nation founder, Jay Z shared in a statement that, “Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn.”

While Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music announced how “thrilled” they were to welcome the global superstar to the Halftime Show adding, “Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career.”

Rihanna’s news comes just three years after she told Vogue that she would turn down a Super Bowl halftime show gig offer in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, who settled a case against the league for ostracising him from playing in retaliation for his social justice activism.

“I couldn’t dare do that,” the R&B singer said. “For what? Who gains from that? Not my people. I just couldn’t be a sellout. I couldn’t be an enabler,” she said.

But looks like she had a change of heart, as will now join the ranks of numerous music legends who have previously hosted the show, from Prince and Michael Jackson to Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez.

And after welcoming her first child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky during the summer, it’s safe to say the singer has quite the year ahead of her!
