Mean Girl’s Actors Returning For New ‘Mean Girls: The Musical’ Movie
It’s totally grool making fetch happen!
Mean Girl’s actors Tina Fey and Tim Meadows are expected to reprise their roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall in the new musical movie adaptation.
While Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Rachel McAdams, Johnathan Bennett and Lacey Chabert will not be returning for their roles, an all new cast of incredible talent has been chosen to fill our favourite movie characters shoes in this musical remake.
Tina Fey revealed during a recent appearance on the Late Show with Seth Meyers that herself and Meadows: “couldn’t age out, teachers work forever” adding “I want it to be like when Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island was at a trade show and you’re like, ‘Oh he looks so old in his little hat.’ That’s my goal”.
Both actors will offer a sense of familiarity and comfort to fans of the original movie but the new cast will provide a fresh new approach to the original movie. Reneé Rapp will star as Regina alongside Bebe Wood and Avantika Vandanap as Gretchen and Karen.
Angourie Rice will take on the role of Cady, while Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey and Christopher Briney will play Janis Ian, Damian and Aaron Samuels.
The role of Regina’s iconic mother is still to be announced ahead of March 6th when production is scheduled to begin on the musical adaptation. Amy Poehler played Mrs George in the original movie, it’ll be difficult to beat her performance but we look forward to seeing who is cast in the role!
Tina also detailed some of the differences between the Broadway musical and its new screen adaptation during her conversation with Seth Meyers saying: “The songs are sounding more pop, it’s a fascinating process, because in Broadway, everything has to play to the back of the house and in movies you can come back in and things can play really intimately.”

When announcing the film pre-pandemic Fey stated: “I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen. It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve sent 16 years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly”.
