Paul Mescal Just Won An Olivier Award And Here’s How He Celebrated
What a win!
Congratulations are in order for Paul Mescal.
The Maynooth actor has been nominated for award after award this year from BAFTAs to Oscars, for his role in Aftersun.
And on Sunday night he picked up his first Olivier Award for his role in A Streetcar Named Desire.
The actor began his performance in the stage show earlier this year for a limited run.

However, due to the phenomenal reaction, the play’s run was extended and even moved to a bigger theatre on the West End.
Paul was nominated for Best Actor in a Play in the theatre awards this year before he scooped the nod on Sunday night in London.
Mescal fought off tough competition from David Tennant for Good, Tom Hollander for Patriots, Rafe Spall for To Kill A Mockingbird and Giles Terera for Blues For An Alabama Sky.
Clearly blown away, he was emotional as he accepted the gong on stage.

“Thank you so much for this honour. Where am I going to start?“ he confessed as he began his speech.
“I feel incredibly honoured to be standing on the shoulders of the immense talent of so many other people.“
He went on to thank his co-stars, the theatre company and his director for the show. As well as thanking his drama school The Lír Academy, where he went to college.
“Finally, I want to thank my parents who never said no. To my dad and mum and I hope you get better soon,“ he said.
His mother Dearbhla is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
Paul’s co-star Anjana Vasan won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and the play itself picked up the Best Revival award.
He was joined by his little sister, Nell for a celebratory McDonalds after the awards.
Congratulations, Paul.
