We’re about to go on a brand new adventure.

On Saturday during Tudum: A Global Fan Event, Netflix revealed a short teaser for the fourth season of the show, making us believe its closer to our screens than we first anticipated.

The short clip revealed all of our favourite characters back in action for season four including Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline(Sarah), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ) and Carlacia Grant (Cleo). The shows stars are seen posing in entirely new looks as the show begins a new plot line where the Pogues have said goodbye to school and hello to the real adult world.

The six friends then jump inside the beloved Twinkie before embarking on their new adventure which was teased following the end of Season three. Following the 18-month time jump when the Pogues were honoured for their discoveries back on Kildare Island, during the final scene the group of six were enlisted to head off on another adventure surrounding Edward Teach, the infamous pirate better known as Blackbeard.

The cast announced the official renewal of season four during their fan even Poguelandia back in February off this year.

In a statement with Variety series co-creators, executive producers and showrunners Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke said: “The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into Season 4 of Outer Banks.”

Speaking at Tudum: A Global Fan Event, the show creator Jonas Pate revealed their will be a number of flashbacks to fill in the 18-month time gap we experienced between them retuning from El Dorado and receiving their awards after leaving school.

He said: “We think about the first three seasons as a trilogy and then we’re starting over on another sort of trilogy now. We just needed to clear the decks. We’re going to have new villains, a new treasure hunt, a new life situation.”

Does that mean there’s a season five and six on the way in the future too?

While there’s been no official release in regard to plot line, filming is due to start in Charleston this summer.

You can watch Outerbanks season one to three only on Netflix.
