EYNTK About Hollywood IT Man Glen Powell

Many are calling it the summer of Glen Powell, and they’re not wrong because the man is truly everywhere.

From press for his new movie Twisters, the new action thriller movie he stars in alongside Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones, to magazine covers to shotgunning beers on stage at a Luke Combs concert, Glen is having quite the summer.

While he is now making a name for himself in Hollywood, Glen has slowly worked his way up in the acting industry over the last 21 years.

So, it really is about time we get to know Glen Powell a little better…

Who is Glen Powell?

Glen Powell is a 35-year-old actor, producer and writer from Austin, Texas. 

While having moved to California 15 years ago for his acting career, he recently moved back home to Austin to be closer to his family. 

He is even planning on finishing his Spanish and Early American History degree at the University of Texas at Austin while filming his upcoming movie, The Running Man.

His parents Glen Sr. and Cyndy, and sisters, Lauren and Leslie, are very supportive of Glen’s career and often visit him on set. Glen Sr. and Cyndy have even been extras in some of Glen’s movies, including Anyone But You and Twisters.

His Acting Career

He began his acting career in 2003 when he briefly appeared in Spy Kids 3: Game Over. He would go on to have several minor roles while he was a teenager and in his 20s.

His breakout role came in 2015 when he starred in the horror-comedy series Scream Queens. In 2018, he got his first lead role in a romcom thanks to Set It Up alongside Zoey Deutch.

But 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick really sealed the deal for him to become one of Hollywood’s most in-demand actors. The highly anticipated sequel that saw him act alongside Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Jon Hamm began a whirlwind two years for him.

Last year, Glen starred in another romcom, this time alongside Sydney Sweeney in Anyone But You. The pair often made headlines during filming and the press tour due to dating rumours, but they have insisted they are just friends.

His latest project, Twisters, has been doing extremely well. It has been a box office hit and is just behind Dune: Part Two and Inside Out 2 in opening week success this year.

Dating History

He is currently single, but Glen has had a couple of relationships in the past that were in the spotlight.

In early 2017, he was first seen with The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev. The pair dated for almost a year, but by November, it was revealed they were taking some time apart as Nina was busy filming. 

Glen and Nina are still friendly and have been seen at multiple of the same events, acting very cordial.

His most publicised relationship was with model Gigi Paris. They began dating in early 2020 and became Instagram official the following year. They even made several red carpet appearances together. 

However, in April 2023, the pair split after Gigi visited Glen in Australia, where he was filming Anyone But You. One can imagine that the long distance and flirty nature of Glen and co-star Sydney Sweeney’s friendship took its toll on Gigi.

Glen Powell’s Dog

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention Glen’s dog Brisket, whom he rescued from the Labelle Foundation in L.A. in July 2023.

While going through his break up from Gigi while filming Twisters in Oklahoma, Glen decided that it was time he became a dog dad. After seeing a photo of Brisket on an adoption page he followed, he made it his mission to adopt him.

Brisket has been by Glen’s side throughout the press for Twisters. He posed alongside Glen for British GQ and even made his red carpet debut at the U.S. premiere of Twisters in L.A.
