The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Is Finally Inclusive – & That’s Major
The show was 6 years in the making
The Victoria’s Secret Angels are officially back and this year they are better than ever. Candice Swanepoel, Tyra Banks, Adrianna Lima and the Hadid sisters were among a few returning favourites. With some newbies debuting on the infamous runway as well – Lila Moss did us so proud.
Outstanding performances were provided by the oh-so-iconic Cher, our favourite up-and-coming singer, Tyla, and K-pop star Lisa, who sang her stunning version of Kiss Me by Spence None The Richer.
Victoria Secret’s had one major priority for this show – to address the one thing that they have consistently lacked over the years: inclusion.
There is undoubtedly a serious debate about this topic. On one side many believe that high fashion has always and should always stick to its original requirements. To walk on a runway you must fit the standard model physique – tall and skinny.
However, we all know that the majority of people do not look like this and it is promoting an unrealistic body standard, for most people. Don’t get us wrong, these women are beautiful and work super hard in the industry. But maybe it’s time to see a few more realistic approaches in fashion.

Over the years, many women have claimed that watching the show caused them to feel increasingly insecure about their own bodies. VS took a while to “reflect on who they are as a brand” and took a few years to rebuild a new and improved show. Models of several different body types will allow a wider range of women to feel represented by the show. Thankfully, we believe that they pretty much nailed it this year.
Ashley Graham, a plus-sized model walked in her first Victoria’s Secret show last night and she absolutely wowed us. She has previously spoken out about the lack of representation in the fashion industry stating that, “The conversation around the lack of curve representation that we see, we know and we feel is REAL.
“And I really hope designers are listening this season. Something positive is brewing, and as we head into this season, I’m excited to hopefully see more curve models and better diversity on the runway. These conversations push the industry forward, and I’m hopeful for what’s to come for #SS25”.
Other plus sized models who took to the runway this year include the likes of Paloma Elsesser.

The wave of inclusivity didn’t stop here, as two trans models also took to the VS runway. Providing much needed representation for the LGBTQ+ community, Alex Consani and Valentina Sampino were the first transgender models to walk the show.
Despite this, the show is dtill receiving mixed reviews from fans and critics. Viewers TikTok and X are by no means holding back their opinions on last night.
Like most shows, it had its odd mishap however, as it’s the first show back since its several-year hiatus, we will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the girls did pretty spectacular. What did you think?
