Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (literally), and if you’re over the usual store-bought gifts – and the cringe factor that sometimes comes with them-  it’s time to get creative!

We have rounded up a few DIY ideas that are sweet, stylish and most importantly, totally not embarrassing.

Whether you’re gifting a friend, partner, or even just treating yourself, these handmade gifts will make a memorable impact, no awkwardness guaranteed… Well, maybe just a tiny bit.

Handwritten Love Coupons

@vanillabeanvibes Here’s an easy and affordable Valentine’s day gift idea! Made this for my boyfriend along with some other goodies. You don’t have to break the bank to show your loved one you care! #crafting #crafts #diy #valentinesday #love #craftideas ♬ I Only Have Eyes for You – The Flamingos

Handwritten coupons are a classic DIY gift, equal parts cute, silly, and romantic, depending on your vibe, of course. If you have a printer you can print out templates to cut out and write your own cute or silly things to redeem, or if you’re feeling crafty, grab a ruler and create your own from scratch.

Whether it’s a “One free back massage”, a “Your turn to pick the movie”, or something a little more mischievous, the best part is tailoring them to your relationship. Fine print optional!

Personalised Scrapbook

If you love keeping little things from dates or just days out, this is absolutely perfect. A scrap book is the ultimate way to keep mementos alive and forever.

From cinema tickets, receipts, photos together, and my personal favourite, pressed flowers! The things you can add into a scrapbook for your special person are endless.

Personalised Playlist

If you’re looking for something a little bit more heartfelt, a playlist is the perfect gift, especially if it’s for a music lover!

Add in songs you adore listening together, or simply just songs that remind you of them. A playlist can always be updated with more songs, and of course, it can be taken and listened to anywhere. From cute, cringey names and customised playlist names, the ideas are endless.

If you think you can take on the challenge of learning how to knit or crochet (or if you’re already a pro), this is the perfect gift. The internet is overflowing with tutorials, patterns, and step-by-step guides that make it easier than ever to get started, no grandma supervision required.

You could go for something simple to start like a heart-shaped coaster, to something more advanced like a tiny plushie. Plus, the slightly uneven stitches just add to the homemade charm, right?

Popout Cards

A store bought card is nice, but a DIY popout card? That’s next level thoughtfulness! Plus, they’re way easier to make than they look! With a little paper, scissors, and glue you can create a cute surprise that literally jumps off the page.

Whether it’s a popout heart, a mini love note, or even a tiny photo of you two, there are tons of easy templates online and even more tutorials on apps such as Pinterest and TikTok. Bonus points if you add some glitter.

But maybe not too much, we don’t want an accidental craft explosion!
