"It makes me question everything that I do, how I share"

Louise Cooney is one of the many Irish influencers who has opened up about the devastating effect Tattle Life has had on people in the public eye.

Earlier this month, Irish couple Neil and Donna Sands were awarded £300,00 in damages after hateful and abusive comments were shared about them on the website.

They also unmasked the owner of the gossip forum site as Sebastian Bond.

Louise has shared that it has been extremely “traumatising” for her.

Speaking to the Irish Times, she admitted: “I definitely experience anxiety because of it.”

She tries not to look at the site where people mercilessly troll her and other people in both Ireland and the UK.

“It has completely changed my life for the last five years. It’s something I’ve never spoken about. It’s incredibly traumatising and hurtful.

“Some of the things that have been said and written, and not having control over your digital footprint in that way, is really upsetting.”

She went on to say: “It’s made me less trusting of people. It makes me second-guess people’s intentions. And it makes me question everything that I do, how I share.”

Several well-known Irish faces have spoken out about their relationship with the website and shared their hopes that it will be completely shut down.

Influencer Siobhan O’Hagan appeared on Prime Time last week to discuss the harassment and trolling she received.

“[Users have] done whatever they can to try sabotage me,” she said. “I don’t really know what they want me to do. But, in terms of influencing, I work with a lot of businesses and I know they contact them and send them lies.

“They have too much time on their hands. Luckily, I’m in a very good place. So, I’ve been able to rise above it. I know I have friends who have been harmed much more by it and they’re looking at it.”
