The most iconic fashion film of its time is making a comeback after 20 years, and we can’t wait!

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is confirmed to be in development and is set to be released in summer 2026.

Based on the book by Lauren Weisberger, The Devil Wears Prada starred Meryl Streep as a harsh fashion magazine editor who liked to make her personal assistants suffer, played by Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway.

This iconic film gathered a cult of a fanbase and really captured the dream of living in New York in your 20s. The movie managed to both celebrate and send up the fashion industry at the same time.

Here’s everything we need to know.

The plot of the new sequel is rumoured to be focusing on Miranda (Streep), as she deals with the decline of her once booming magazine.

The only person who can bail her out is former assistant, Emily Charlton (Blunt) who now works for a luxury fashion group.

Who is in the Devil Wears Prada 2?

It is reported that Streep will return as Runway editor Miranda, with Blunt also returning as Miranda’s long suffering assistant, Emily.

Anne Hathaway is also reported to be returning to her iconic role of Andy Sachs but it is unclear where she will fit into Miranda and Emily’s world.

Stanley Tucci is to reprise his role as Nigel Kipling, hopefully far away from Miranda’s clutches this time.

The original producer and screenwriters, Wendy Finerman and Aline Brosh Mckenna are back on board for the rerun. And Kenneth Branagh is set to join the cast for the first time, playing Miranda’s husband.

A legacy

The Devil Wears Prada was a box office hit earning $326.7 million worldwide.

The role of Miranda which is said to be at least partly inspired by Anna Wintour, landed Streep a Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy, as well as an Academy Award.

Will you be rolling up to the cinema watch it next summer? We know we will!
