CMAT & Charli xcx Actually Have A Surprising Connection

CMAT is riding high on what might just be her biggest year yet.

She is preparing to release her next album, EURO-COUNTRY this week, and her singles from the record have already gone viral.

Truly everything is coming up CMAT!

But now she has revealed how a discussion with a pop superstar made her buckle down and become a musician.

She revealed that while she was living in Manchester she was able to go to a listening party for Charli xcx.

“Me and her got talking because I was really critical of some of the music,” she said when she chatted to Quotidien.

She went on to say: “I was 22, I think…so this is like seven years ago. I didn’t know it was brave, I thought that’s what we were there to do, but apparently not.”

Charli asked her why she wasn’t making music herself and asked where her family and friends were.

“She basically told me to go back home, she was like, ‘You should move back home and be around people who you make music with and really just focus in on it and try to give as much time to it as possible, because otherwise you’re not gonna be inspired to do anything,’ and I literally moved back home because she told me to,” she explained.

She went on to say that she went back to her apartment, broke up with her boyfriend and moved home to Ireland.

“You have to do what Charli xcx tells you to do and now I’m a pop star so great,” she joked.
