Hi Megan and Kieran! We loved you on Love is Blind UK! Did you go on the show knowing you would find love?

Kieran: I went into the experiment very open to the idea of it, ie, dating without seeing someone, doing the whole thing backwards ultimately. Did I really honestly think I was going to find The One? Probably not, I didn’t think the chances were very high. I was definitely open to it. Of  course, I was obviously very wrong. [Laughs]
Megan: Yeah, I was the same. I’m very optimistic, I think everything I go into very lighthearted and hoping for the best. But I was also realistic. Before I went in, I told my mum, I was like, “I’m obviously not going to get married!” I think both our parents had the shock of their lives when we came out and were like, “Joking, we’re getting married! Are you ready?”

You both have become fan favourites. Were you worried how viewers would see you on the show?

K: It wasn’t something I thought about at all when I signed up. I just kept saying to myself was, “As long as I’m myself then what will be will be. What people think of me is ultimately true to who I am.”  I was just the whole way through just be yourself, react how you normally would have in any given situation. Hopefully, people like the way that I carry myself.
M: I think we’re both quite we’re confident in ourselves. So I think we just went in and did us and if people don’t like me, it is what it is. It’s like in normal life as well, not everyone’s gonna love you. Then if people do love you, at least it’s you that they love.
K: But the positive response has been amazing. It is lovely to read the comments, I’m not going to lie. People who don’t even know us have been so nice, which is lovely.

You mentioned telling your families before going in. What were their reactions to you signing up for a reality show?

M: My mum actually is a huge fan. So we love reality TV! That’s one of the subjects me and my mum bond over. So when I told her she was over the moon. She was like, “This is the best thing ever.” She was just buzzing! My dad didn’t know that was going on it until we were engaged so that was fun telling him. But again he was like, “That’s so you!”
K: My mum had a similar reaction, but she doesn’t watch a lot of reality TV. But she’s a psychologist, so she loved the social experiment side of it. She was like, “Kieran, if you need to go put your phone away for multiple weeks and just focus on what you want in a partner, I think it’s lovely.” So she was really excited about the social experiment side of it. So she was very supportive about it. I think my dad’s reaction was more of a “Oh this is a very Kieran thing to do and what will be will be.” But he will always back me. Everyone was so supportive.

Were you glad to have a year together in your bubble before the show aired?

M:  I think we’re really lucky that we’ve had a whole year to just do us.
K: We’re so grateful. I think obviously with other reality shows people come out of it into the public eye. We’ve had a year of just doing us and not having that pressure from the public, I feel very grateful for that. We’ve loved the last year, it’s been amazing.

Megan, we’ve spoken a lot about social media. But we have to talk about your promo picture for the show… Who is that?

M: Oh my God, so funny! [Laughs] I mean…it’s just not eh most flattering picture I’ve seen of myself! It was a bit shock when I initially saw it. But I am the most lax person ever! There are so many pictures of me that my friends have posted and I’m like “I don’t care, it’s fine!” When it’s all over Netflix it’s a different story. But look, you just have to laugh it off. It’s safe to say I look a bit different in it! You have to laugh…or you’ll cry! I’m glad other people thought it didn’t look like me. Because I was genuinely like, “Oh…do I look like this?”

Like you said, it’s been a year since the show stopped filming. So what has life been like for you and how has it changed now people know who you are?

K: It’s been fun, the last year we’ve done so much. We’ve gone on holidays and travelling, just trying to really enjoy as much time together as possible. We’ve pretty much spent every hour of every day together. Obviously, since the shows come out, we’ve been trying to lay low so we don’t spoil the ending on anyone. Which has been very hard. Meg may have been wearing a peroxide blonde wig out to certain events that we’ve been to, like engagement parties and stuff. Meg has been wearing a disguise, which has been really quite fun!
M: I’ve loved it. I think I’m going to keep it going! My alter ego is called Sally, she’s got a whole different personality. It’s really fun. Kieran is living his best life, he’s got two wives! But we’ve had the best time
