If you were a child in the 90s to early 2000s, you’ll know a thing or two about Hilary Duff.

She was a teen idol, she was Cinderella, she was, of course, Lizzie Maguire.

She knew what dreams were made of, and this autumn, she’s making every millennials’ dreams come true by releasing brand new music.

Hilary announced the news on Instagram this week, sharing a photo of herself in a recording studio alongside the caption: “new music… or something.”

What could it mean? Well, new music, probably.

This marks 10 years since new music from Hilary Duff. Her last album, Breathe In Breathe Out was released in 2015 to positive reviews, ranking at number 5 on the Billboard chart.

Back in her Disney days, she released Metamorphosis, her second studio album after a Christmas record, which made it to number one.

The album featured tracks like So Yesterday and Come Clean, which cemented Hilary’s status as a teen idol and her place in the bubblegum pop era.

Since then, she has gone on to star in multiple movies and TV shows like Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper By The Dozen, and How I Met Your Father (the How I Met Your Mother spin off).

So, how will this new music sound?

Well, we have no idea just yet, but considering the time Hilary has spent in the entertainment industry we’re likely in for a more mature sound shaped by her experiences in the limelight and as a mother.

Hilary has four children, a son she shares with ex husband Mike Comrie, and three daughters with Matthew Koma.

She recently looked back at her early music career, saying: “As much as I look back and think this album doesnโ€™t hold the emotional depth I look for today, I know my 14/15 year old self meant every word.

“I remember some of my first shows being in a skate park in San Jose, and very shortly after, stepping out on stage in arenas. Yesterday marked the 22nd anniversary of Metamorphosisโ€ฆ Although these are distant memories for me, thank you for showing up the way that you did.”
