Here’s What We Know About Olivia Rodrigo’s Third Album
It's brutal out here... waiting for OR3
At long last Olivia Rodrigo has finally started teasing her very much anticipated third studio album.
Since 2021, Olivia has graced us with her vulnerable lyrics and gorgeous melodies in her albums Sour and Guts, which have both defined this new era of 2020s pop music. Following her most recent album, she set out on a two year long tour run, which only made us more eager for some new music.
Last week Olivia featured on the Amex Platinum There’s Nothing Like It YouTube series, where she confirmed that she is now working on her third studio album… which saw fans release a sigh of relief – considering how Olivia poked fun at her absence in the recording studio earlier in the year, captioning her holiday Instagram post, “Everywhere but that damn studio.”

Although there has been no official release date shared or no confirmation of any specific songs, there have been a few hints and indications of OR3 along the way.
Ever since her first studio album sour, Olivia has rocked a purple aesthetic in her album themes, covers and photoshoots. However, throughout the Guts Tour, there were subtle shifts to a darker red aesthetic.
From her tour outfits to her website logo changing from purple to red, fans speculate that this veer to a red aesthetic aligns with a new era of her music. Not to mention her final outfit change for her performance at The Osheaga Festival, where she wore a red shirt with a bedazzled ‘3’ on the front.

While Guts was mainly a pop album with a fusion of rock, there has been speculation that OR3 will be a pure genre shift to rock alone. This would come to no surprise given that Olivia has been presenting a particular ‘rockstar aesthetic’ in recent performances.
Among the many musical guests that joined her on stage during the Guts tour, were iconic bands like Weezer, The Cure and Talking Heads. Could performing with these artists be her way of solidifying her spot in the rock genre?
The most recent indication of this era came when Olivia was announced as a performer at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2025 induction ceremony, which she hinted to while talking about OR3 recently.

No matter what Olivia brings to the table for OR3, we’re sure it will be just as iconic as her previous works so we can’t wait to see what this upcoming era brings.
In the meantime, all we can do is continue to listen to Sour and Guts back to front while we await an announcement.
