The Traitors’ Edelle: ‘I Was The Sacrificial Lamb’

Edelle was banished from The Traitors Ireland castle last night – and in a shocking twist of events, the Faithful actually caught a Traitor at the first round table.

“I’m so disappointed,” she tells STELLAR. “As Emma would say, I was raging! I was worried that they were going to sacrifice me, but I didn’t think that they would sacrifice me very early on straightaway. I was expecting to get to the turret, like I wasn’t expecting to be banished that night. I was the sacrificial lamb.

“They got the right answer with the wrong evidence. I think it was just pure luck. I also tried to plead my case and say,’ guys, be very careful here that you’re not just going with the whole group and voting with the group. If you’ve got something to say, say it.’ I tried everything I could, but it didn’t work.”

Edelle may be the only Traitor in history to never meet her fellow Traitors while playing the game. She says that while she was suspicious of Fionuala, she had no idea about Carla or Pauric.

“I was really shocked, I had my suspicions on Fionuala,” she says, “but I didn’t have any suspicions on the other two. I thought Carla played a blinder, I spent a lot of time shackled to her after the first mission. I had no clue that she was a Traitor!”

And what about her banishment? Catching a Traitor on the first round table is no mean feat, but Edelle thought the Faithfuls’ reasoning was “absolutely ridiculous!”

“Having a drink of water!” she says. “I thought that people would try to get a wee bit more deep. I think Laura knew that I thought the way she was playing the game was ridiculous. And I don’t think she liked that. I didn’t agree with going up and asking people straight to the face: are you a Traitor?

“She didn’t like the aggressive thing either, 100%. But I’d stand by it. It was an aggressive play, like it was an aggressive way to play the game. I didn’t say she was an aggressive person.”

Edelle may have been the first person to be banished, but she wasn’t the first person to be murdered. That was Emma, who was murdered by Edelle herself the night before.

The pair are friends again now, but Emma says she’s still “raging” she left the castle so soon: “I’m more raging now watching the show than I was when I actually got murdered, because now I’m like, ‘oh, I could have done more.’ But it is what it is. It’s a game, right?

“I don’t think the whole ‘mammy’ thing helped, and me being a little bit louder than usual. Well, not than usual. I’m louder anyway!
Edelle didn ‘t really have a choice. Well, she did have a choice, but I would have done the same thing if I’m honest.

“It was unluckily for me, but it is what it is. We’re friends now. Karma came back around!”

Emma doesn’t have any hard feelings for the rest of this year’s cast either – and like all of us, she’s looking forward to watching the rest of the series play out.

“It’s such a great show,” she says. “The main reason I went on was nothing to do with being on TV, I just love the show. It’s a great game to play.”
