The influence of the 1960s is once again shaping modern style, so let’s take a closer look at how this era is returning.

Headscarves and bandanas have been steadily making their comeback, transforming both casual and evening looks with a touch of romance and a sense of old-world glamour.

These accessories draw strong inspiration from the 1960s resort-style aesthetic, popularised by TV shows such as Palm Royale, set in 1969.

Retro hats are also making a stylish comeback. The trend was famously sparked when Jackie Kennedy wore a beige pillbox hat to her husband’s inauguration in 1961.

Soon after, icons like Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana began embracing the look, establishing the hat as an ultimate symbol of understated elegance.

Cynthia Erivo has proudly embraced her hat collection, emerging as the modern ambassador for the pillbox hat during her 2024 press tour for legendary movie Wicked.

Many fashion houses during the 2025 Copenhagen fashion week also showcased pillbox hats, clearly inspired by the 1960s hat trend.

The bold and vintage jewellery styles of the 1960s are reemerging in 2026, as vintage pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels and Bulgari are in high demand.

Chunky gold and silver jewellery, along with geometric and space-age designs are making a comeback.

Mod-style jewellery appears to be leading the resurgence with bold, graphic pieces heavily influenced by the 1960s fashion revolution in the UK.

Bags

Handbags inspired by the 60s are remerging this year, bringing a wave of nostalgia with them.

Kiss-lock bags, a vintage staple are making a stylish comeback, offering a retro charm that feels both classic and playful.

Small, structured bags with bold geometric shapes are also returning, reflecting the eras fearless approach to colour and design.

Alongside these polished styles, the 1960s bohemian aesthetic is resurfacing, with bags featuring suede fringe, heavy beadwork and tassel detailing.
