Tell Me Lies: The 4 Real Couples Who Have Come Out Of The Show
Yes, 4!
If you are anything like me, you too might be obsessed with the intoxicating and frustratingly wonderful show Tell Me Lies, which just dropped its third season at the start of the year.
And while some of the plot lines are, well, interesting to say the least, one of the most interesting things to happen off screen is that not one, not two but four members of the cast are actually in a relationship together in real life. It’s just like Rihanna said: “We found love…. on the set of Tell Me Lies.”
For fans of the show, this is a fair warning that you might find these pairing just a bit shocking, considering some of the storyline…
Although the show thrives messy hookups and emotional chaos, these off screen relationships seem to be thriving in a much healthier way!
Grace Van Patten and Jackson White

Grace Van Patten, who plays Lucy and Jackson White, who plays Stephan, are together in real life, and seem to be incredibly happy despite their very toxic on screen relationship.
The pair have been officially dating since 2022 and actually met at their first in person audition for the show. Van Patten tells this story in an interview for the Call her Daddy podcast late last year, where she said she didn’t like Jackson when they first spoke over Zoom, but after meeting at their first in person audition, she said there was a completely different energy with him that she was drawn to.
During an interview with ELLE, she said, “We didn’t know if it would be more complicated if he did get the part or didn’t… we just couldn’t help it!” And by the looks of it, their relationships seems to be far from complicated.

When asked about how it feels playing such a toxic couple while also being together off screen, Van Patten told People magazine that they are “wildly different” to the characters they play. And while some other couples might find it tough to play such intense scenes, Grace says, “It makes me feel so safe and so comfortable and be able to go there and be vulnerable, because I am so comfortable with him”
If anything, having that connection off screen helps with their performance. Grace recalls a time when director Robin Wright got her to channel her real feelings for Jackson during a fight scene between Lucy and Stephan: “Just think what if Jackson did do this? And I was like Oh God, that’d be really awful, really bad. And I just tried to go there”
While we might not be rooting for them to be together in the show, we definitely hope their romance continues to thrive off screen!
Sonia Mena and Spencer House
@usweeklyDon’t worry #TellMeLies fans, Spencer House and Sonia Mena’s real-life relationship is much healthier than that of their characters, Wrigley and Pippa. Sonia Mena and Spencer House, or Pippa and Wriggley, as they are known on the show, are also together in real life, and apparently have been for several years!
The pair have been extremely private about their relationship and didn’t even publicly announce it themselves! It was the show’s makeup artist who spilled the tea during an interview for Love Letters of Substack after she said, “He and Sonia, who plays Pippa, are together in real life, and they’re just so nice.”
And we have to agree, after seeing the cutest photos of them together at the premiere of the new Tell me Lies season.
Branden Cook and Katherine Hughes
Branden Cook plays Evan, the on and off boyfriend of Katherine Hughes’ character Molly, and while their relationship is always on the rocks, their relationship in real life couldn’t be better, with a wedding even on the horizon.
The pair shared their exciting news of their engagement last October, after Katherine subtly dropped the news in an Instagram photo dump. Included in the aesthetic dump, was the sweetest photobooth picture of the pair, where Katherine showed off an incredible rock on her finger.
Not much else has been said on any wedding plans with the pair continuing to keep their relationship private but not hidden.
Tom Ellis and Meaghan Oppenheimer

Tom Ellis, who plays Professor Oliver, isn’t in a relationship with any of the cast members but rather with the creator of the show, Meaghan Oppenheimer.
The couple have been together since 2025 and got married back in 2019. They even welcomed the first child together via surrogate in 2023. Although it was Meaghan’s first child, it’s Tom’s fourth daughter, as he has three older girls from a previous relationship.
The pair both work in the creative industry and frequently work together on projects, just like they do with Tell Me Lies!
Name a show with more IRL couples.
