Get To Know Irish Love Island Star, Sean Fitzgerald

The GAA man is looking for love

Love Island is kicking off in just under a week – and we’ve already got our first Irish islander: GAA player and teacher Sean Fitzgerald.

Sean is heading into the Mallorca villa on Monday, June 1st, and we’re just delighted to see that we’ll have an Irish head in there first thing.

But who is Sean, what does he do, and what kind of islander will he be?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Who is Sean Fitzgerald?

Sean is a 25 year old primary school teacher from Galway, who also plays GAA and has a fairly hefty TikTok account.

He has won four Connacht Senior Football Championships with Galway across his career, and missed their most recent match against Roscommon – leading to speculation that he was, indeed, entering the villa.

On TikTok, he’s got nearly 100,000 followers, a number which is only expected to grow during his time on Love Island.

What has Sean said about Love Island?

When asked what his type on paper is, Sean says: “Female!” Well, alright then.

He also says that he’s not after “cockiness and a dry personality” and that, “I’m here for love but also here for drama. I won’t be getting involved in it, I might be mixing it!”

Sean’s a sportsman, so he’s got a game plan or two: “I play Gaelic football, so we’re called jersey pullers. I may pull out the county card, but maybe using the county baller won’t work in this sport!”

He adds that his tactic is to “play forward and if it’s not on, pass it back and go forward again. Eventually, you’ll get a goal!”

Sean adds that “if I see someone I like, I’m going for it and nothing’s gonna stop me.”

Bring it on.
