So now that it’s getting darker earlier – not to mention colder – it’s easy to see why we might be getting a little cranky. What better way to lighten your spirits then to take a fab mini-break to a European city for some Christmas market action? There’s nothing more exciting than hopping on a plane and getting away for a few days to indulge in all the yummy food, craft and most importantly clothes that European cities have to offer. So, to help you out, we’ve done some research and found four amazing spots that’ll blow you away and make you feel all Christmassy inside.
1. Budapest Christmas Market
The Budapest Christmas Market takes place in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Vorosmarty Square. The Market has a huge range of traditional Hungarian food, craft, clothes and more and it’s right in the centre of the city, so you can get some much needed sightseeing done as well.
2. Vienna Christmas Market
Each year, Austria hosts Vienna Magic of Advent, when Rathausplatz square becomes a shining fairytale land. The whole place is decorated with an array of glistening lights, and the market has Christmas workshops, warming drinks, crafts and anything your festive heart desires.
3. Berlin Christmas Market
This market is renowned worldwide, and it’s not hard to see why. Berlin Christmas Market has 150 vendors from all across Germany and, decked in romantic lighting, it’d make the perfect romantic get a way for you and your other half. They have all the beer, strudels and sausage your heart could desire – as well of bundles of traditional German entertainment. It’s right in the heart of the city too.
4. Bruges Christmas Market
Bruges is one of the most beautiful towns in the world on any day of the year, so just imagine how magical it is at Christmas. Bruges has an abundance of beautiful buildings in the centre, so when it’s littered with Christmas lights and market stalls it is a pretty picture. The stalls at Bruges Christmas Market contain a huge variety of traditional Belgian products including absolutely delish Belgian chocolate and waffles, so you may come home a stone heavier – but it’ll totally be worth it.
