Going out on Paddy’s day is a commitment, if you’re not prepared for the crowds, drunken behaviour and speeches about how lucky we are to be living in this great country, you’re probably better off staying at home. And there’s nothing wrong with that! You can celebrate your heritage the best way you know how, er, with Netflix, of course!

Netflix is full of hidden Irish-themed gems and we’ve done some very, um, tough research to find the best shows and films to make your Netflix and Chill Paddy’s day the best ever!

The Stag

Our girl crush of the moment, Amy Hubberman stars in this one, need we say more? The Stag tells the story of a groom-to-be who agrees to hold his stag party in the great Irish outdoors, but the weekend takes a turn for the weird when the bride’s crazy brother arrives to stir things up. The Hubes is on point as per.

House Of Cards

Up until now this show has been totally american and we’ve loved it anyway. But the good people at House Of Cards have made us fall even further in love with the show (we didn’t know that was possible) by introducing Dubliner Dominique McElligott as Hannah Conway wife of William “Will” Conway, the current Governor of New York and the Republican nominee.  Will is Frank’s chief opponent in the race for the Presidency in 2016. Hannah and Will have two kids Charlie and Lilly. Their youth and strong values pose a huge threat to Frank who is middle aged, having marital problems, and has no kids. Who would of known the Irish would be the ones to try take down the notorious Frank Underwood?

Dubliner Ruth Kearney stars as London, a mysterious new girl in town, in Netflix’s new comedy Flaked with Will Arnett. Set in Venice, California resident and recovering alcoholic Chip (Will Arnett) styles himself as a self-help guru but struggles to keep track of his own lies and half-truths. All eight episodes are available to stream on Netflix and we’re totally hooked!

Once Upon A Time

Our fave Irish actress Victoria Smurfit is back with a bang in Once Upon A Time this week as the woman you love to hate, Cruela DeVil. Cruela originates from the Disney animated movie 101 Dalmatians and is one of the most evil women on Earth! New episodes of Once Upon A Time launch every week on Netflix and they’re super addictive!

The Tudors

Our fave young Irish star, Sarah Bolger, plays the part of Princess Mary Tudor, the only surviving child of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon, as well as the oldest of the King’s children. Notably, Mary Tudor is the only female character apart from Catherine Brooke to appear in all four seasons.  Sarah appears as a recurring character in Seasons two, three and four of The Tudors, spanning some 23 episodes.
