Apple Just Revealed How Long Your iPhone Is Supposed To Last
Y'know, if you don't drop it and smash it into smithereens first.
We love our iPhones but they aren’t exactly the most robust of gadgets, are they? Whether it’s crappy battery life, the wheel of doom or our own clumsy fault, our smartphones are usually bashed and broken before we’ve even made it to the end of our contract.
But here’s the thing: according to Apple, your iPhone is actually supposed to last you a whole lot longer than your standard 24-month pay monthly sign up.
Writing on the Environment section of their website they revealed that “Years of use, which are based on first owners, are assumed to be four years for OS X and tvOS devices and three years for iOS and watchOS devices.”
So pretty much, you’ve got a maximum of four years before your phone goes kaput.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve never known anyone who’s kept their iPhone scrape-free and in working condition for that long, so what’s the trick to ensuring it stays at peak performance?
First up, you can maintain the battery by keeping your device away from extreme temperatures and powering it down every once in a while.
Next, if you need to speed it up, do a full system reset every now and again.
Lastly? Avoid dropping it down the loo.
