Has Selena Gomez Just Pulled Out Of Her Dublin Gig? Singer Is ‘Taking Time Off’
She's apparently cleared her calendar for the remainder of the year
Selena Gomez is taking an indefinite hiatus from the limelight – and her Revivial World Tour – to focus on her health, she revealed in a statement last night.
The singer, who secretly underwent chemotherapy back in 2013 after being diagnosed with the auto-immune disease Lupus, told fans it was time for her to make her health a priority.
The US and Canadian legs of Selena’s tour are almost complete after four months of touring, but the 24-year-old still has three months of gigs across Europe and South America scheduled, including a night at Dublin’s 3Arena on November 8th.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena said in a statement to US media last night.
“I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.
“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”

A source close to the singer told People that the break was “absolutely not” related to alcohol or substance abuse, adding that the singer decided to “clear her calendar for the year in order to have this be her priority for future happiness without leaving gig promoters “at bay.”
