One Yeezy S4 Model Reveals What That Boiling-Hot Show Was Really Like To Work At

There was fainting, shoes being thrown off, the whole shebang.

New York Fashion Week has only just kicked off, and already we’ve had our first round of controversy.

Kanye West’s Yeezy Season Four show took place on Wednesday, and with models expected to stand outside in 30C heat for the duration of the show, it’s no surprise that things got a little messy.

There were shoes kicked off in anger, and some models even passed out, while others couldn’t take the heat and sat down on the grass instead.

Now one model at the show – which saw hopefuls queuing for a “multi-racial” casting call for up to six hours last weekend – has revealed what really went down. Apparently models had the option to sit or stand, but whatever they chose, they had to stick to it.

I feel so bad!” model Gordonnay told Elle after the show. “For falling! We were standing out here for a long time, but I’ve just been working all week.”

Gordonnay had opted to stand, but the heat combined with general NYFW exhaustion meant she had to give in eventually.

“Yeah, like your knees lock up. I should be used to it, but I don’t know what happened today,” she continued. “I honestly didn’t want to sit because I felt like this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity … I guess that backfired on me.”

Another model, Cassandra, had just “45 minutes sleep” in 24 hours, after she was chosen to walk in the show while attending Kanye’s Madison Square Garden concert on Tuesday.

The Yeezy Season 4 event took place outdoors on the grounds of a former smallpox hospital on Roosevelt Island, around an hour from Manhattan. After being ferried by shuttle bus to the location, attendees were kept waiting over an hour after the show’s set start time, while the hair and make-up teams finished working on the models.
