These Throwback Photos From Gigi Hadid’s Debs Prove She Was Always Stylish AF
Oh, she wore Herve Leger? Yeah, us too...
Rewind to 2013, and you probably only knew Gigi Hadid only as Yolanda Hadid’s older daughter on Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, if at all.
That was before she was noticed by Carine Roitfeld and Tom Ford, of course. By early 2014, Gigi was well on the way to becoming one of the most in-demand catwalk models in the world, and her rise to the top hasn’t finished yet.
Given that she appeared to come out of nowhere onto the modelling scene, y0u’d be forgiven for assuming, or hoping, that Gigi had some awkward ugly duckling years before emerging like the graceful leggy swan we know today. We hate to burst your bubble, but that’s not the case. Gigi got her first modelling break as a toddler, in a campaign for Guess, as she reveals in the new issue of W magazine.
“I started when I was two with Guess and I think my last campaign was probably when I was 10 or 11, before I stopped modelling for high school and to do other things,” she says.
Right, so she wasn’t an awkward child – but was she AT LEAST an awkward teenager? Not in the slightest. Even on her Debs night, the model slayed. “My senior year, I wore a red Herve Leger dress. Not the normal bandage, it was the one where they had the short sleeves and a beautiful braided neckline and stuff,” she explains. Don’t believe us that Gigi was always a stunner? There’s photographic evidence:

“I loved it,” Gigi said of her choice of outfit. “In Malibu, we wear short dresses to prom because we live at the beach. The long dress thing gets a little in your way in the sand and stuff.” What makes the photos even more impressive is that the red bandage dress was actually a hand-me-down. “I wore my mom’s stuff to prom. I never bought anything for prom. I never owned anything designer until I started working,” Gigi admits.
Excuse us, we’re off to find our Debs photos and burn them all, lest a nosy magazine reporter ever come knocking on our door.
