Awks! So Tom Hiddleston’s ‘Self Righteous’ Golden Globes Speech Didn’t Go Down Too Well With Twitter Last Night
“What a load of 'humble' self indulgent wankery.”
Whether you’re a big fan of his Marvel character Loki or you simply know him as Taylor Swift’s ex fella, Tom Hiddleston has certainly made a bigger name for himself in the past 12 months, something that he cemented last night when he scooped a Golden Globe for his role in The Night Manager.
Sadly for poor Tom his, er, questionable acceptance speech seemed to overshadow his actual achievement.
When Tom took to the stage to accept his award, he recalled a time when he visited war-torn South Sudan and a group of doctors and nurses told him they had binge-watched The Night Manager when the city they were staying in was being shelled.
“The idea that I could, or that we could provide, some relief and entertainment for people who work for Unicef and Médecins Sans Frontières and The World Food Programme who are fixing the world in the places where it was broken made me immensely proud,” Tom explained.
Unfortunately, many people on Twitter thought Tom’s speech came across just a smidge self indulgent and criticised him for placing himself at the centre of a humanitarian crisis.
just tuned in to watch a bit of Golden Globes. What a load of “humble” self indulgent wankery from Tom Hiddleston.
